Bhima concept 1 by molee Bhima concept 1 by molee
he's one of the most bad-ass characters in the Mahabharata
will make some changes to this design though.. it's still a bit rough.

btw

he's so bad-ass that he drank his enemy's blood(will give the details soon).
also - he has the strength of ten thousand elephants because he drank some sort of super-steroid.

Molee where are u from? Are u by any chance from Bangalore?
I want u to know that, I am in the process of creating a strategic game, which is inspired by Indian epics. Do you want to join?
No pay planned :-)
For now I am planning to develop a prototype with online battles (with client server model, client being in python and server being in java) and then take it to gaming companies.
I am not an expert in digital art though, We can use your skills.

Guys Let me Put some details about Bhima:

Bhima was the Second brother in Pandavas. His Mother "Kunti" prayed to Lord "Maruti (Lord of Air)" for son and he blessed her with one. Bhima was strong from childhood but one day when all Pandavs and Kauravas was kid, Kauravas poisoned Bhima and pushed him into a lake. Bhima was unconscious and when he touched the base of lake he got found by some Nag (Snake Like Gods) who has lived in that lake. Nags look him to there place and cured.

As Bhima was son of Maruti and once Maruti almost killed everyone one the earth (its separate story), all was afraid from his power and respected him as protector of all, so they offered Bhima an ultimate power which was equivalent to 10,000 elephants. Bhima became so powerful and that helped him destroy evil.

Bhima was attached by a Rakash (He was brother of Hidimba) and bhima defeated him and after looking at his courage and bravery Hidimba proposed him. At that time a honorable man must honor a proposal of lady if there is not any specific reason to say no else that man will be considered low. From Hidimba bhima had 2 son, Berbarik and Ghatotkach.

berbarik was no brave and powerful that krishna have to kill him else he could had ended mahabharat in one day. Barbarik's head krishna kept on a mountain top to watch mahabharat as requested by him and he was the judge. when mahabharat was over and Krishan asked him what he decides about winner then his answer was" There was no one alive on the war field to fight and all was your puppet, there life and death was just your play, so why you ask me". Krishna smiled and offered him a place in Vishnulok (The place of Krishna better then haven).

Story is too long guys but if you are interested i will keep telling :) good night

bro, barbarik is one of the names used, but belasan was his traditional name.and whether this was real or not,is yet to be proved.but this story is quite famous, people falsely accuse that he was greatest warrior and he could kill everyone within 2 minutes with his 3 arrows, but he didnt even physically fight the war..so its all folklore, yet to be proved fully.

there is no barbarik in the original mahabharat. the story you mentioned is from a folk tale.
barbarik does not exist in any of the chapters of mahabharata.
bhima is not son of maruti he is the son of vayu.
maruti is hanuman's name.. which means son of marutha or vayu.
vayu also did not try to kill many people.. that story is from ramaayana.
vayu did not bless kunti a son, they copulated as recorded in the mahabharata. such form was called niyoga where an outsider acts as a biological father.
not all kauravas were responsible in poisoning bhima, duryodhana was the culprit.

i kindly request you to read the mahabharata once before sharing any information.

Well Barbarik was the Son of Gatotkacha. And Maruti is also a Synonym of Vayu. Hanuman also known as MarutiNandan

And how can u say that someone else source of mahabharatha is diluted one. Because in north India they have different stories, south has different, east have different ones( many eastern tribes consider themselves as descendant of Arjuna) And other Eastern countries have a totally different version of these epics. ( Thai & Indonesian version of Ramayna)
And even Iranian folklore is also very similar but with few changes

[off-topic]Well wikipedia has a detailed description of characters (like Kirata, Kinnara( half humans or humanoids unlike general belief of hermophrodite) natural phenomenons like Sandhya, Usha (the early deities)nymphs etc. read about them too I would like too see their pictures as well as)

Yes I have heard many stories in which earlu Buddhists, then later Mughals and after that English & portugal writers wrote their own versions. And so the case with Puranas & Upanishads most of the upnishads as well as Purans(I don't want to take their names) written during Budhism age & polluted many Puranas, Upnishads & concepts of Hinduism (mostly by fanatic B) by vulgarity & made 'bodily pleasure' symbol of these texts just to advertise their religion.
(one example that they were written during British rule is PahadUpnishad though not sure about it because I didn't got anyproof about it which is much more similar to Bible's Sermon on the Mount )

Thats why Sankaracharya started his movement to clean those concepts. But his movement was not only religious one he gathered peasants & preached them about their rights fight against landowners & myths caused by Pundits & purohits of that time.

And also most of the popular folktales & Social, Economic & scientific concepts passed to western countries through Arabs. And they for simplicity & easy Understanding change or modified the names which was continued in Europe as well.

Just read the stories of Vikramaditya & Sulemaan ( which become Solomon in English media) and see how similar are they.

original mahabharata is the one that was written in sanskrit by vyasa. the one i am reading is a version directly translated by kisari mohan ganguli - this is the most authoritative translation of the original mahabharata till date.
original ramayana is the one written in sanskrit by valmiki. look for valmiki ramayana with the sanskrit verses,

all other versions give credit to the original authors and they were written in recent times.
i go by the original authors, that's all.

even the thai and indonesians accept that the original was written by vyasa and valmiki.

look up online to find authentic mahabharata and ramayana.

i don't consider any other version to be authentic.

i have nothing else to say to you. thank you.

please don't give wrong information when you have not read the scripture.

ghatotkacha had one son and his name was anjanaparvan, he died in the war.
again, there is no such person called barbarik in the mahabharata!

Then please give the name of your Mahabharatha.

If you come too Rajasthan & many other north Indian states, here Barbarik is considered as His son, who was taught by Hidimba that if u killed by almighty or come in his proximity then you will get the Moksha & will no longer be remain tied into the cycle of Birth& Death.
May be you are right about barbarik & may be anjanapavan is another name of barbarik. As these characters have many names, eg One name of Indra means elder brother of Krishna which is due to Vishnu's Vamana avtar ( because both share common mother) not because he was elder brother of Vishnu. Those ancient writers used a lot of puns & figures of speech to show their WIT ( paanditya) & those texts have very deep meanings not just direct meanings.

In vedas they are no gods they are natural & spritual phenomenas & personified for teaching purposes. In many texts Indira & Vishnu are inseparable like they are the same person or like another mode of Vishnu and same goes with the deity AgniDev the fire which is necessary for almost every work & considered as mouth of gods, the Sarvahara & even though the Purest One. He also considered as one of the incarnation of Lord Vishnu (not to confuse with MahaVishnu who is same as described Shiv & adiShakti in Shakya Texts or the supreme being KaalPurush controller of Time & Space, creator & destroyer of Universe ( acc. to HIndu mythology Multiverse) who has no form, no gender, sizeless, omniscience, omni present like Ether & pure energy ) Also Vishnu's incarnations are not limited to only 10, those 10 are the major incarnations & other than them there are various others too which are described various texts different purans & upnishads.

But in purans & later texts they( demi gods or dieties) were considered as dieties. Most of them brothers (Devtas & Asuras share same father (but Trinity is not added here)). Where Devs are generally follow rightousness & Asuras think of getting pleasures & doesnt care for others, but its not totally true many of asuras were far more pious & more virtuous than Devas well I will not go in details this already has become a long text.

And see any Hindi Vyakaran & look for Paryayvachi ( synonyms) of Hawa, vayu etc.

And son is also called by his father's name ( not only in folklores but also in local use) Like Krishna also known by his Father's name Vasudeva.

he does and the name of his bow is vayavya.. he also defeated karna over five times in the war with the aid of his bow and arrows.
he was one of the best archers from the pandava side but not as great as arjuna and satyaki.
the only mistake i committed here is that i gave him a beard.. it seems he couldn't grow one(and had sworn to kill anyone who passes a comment about it)  ... thnx btw :aww:

PS: try not to take any reference from tv serials/movies/comics and what is heard from others(friends, parents etc.)  if you want to stay close to the original story.

Just because there's no definitive proof doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You know 20 years ago idiotic western historians believed vedic period only stretched back to 3000bc at most ...now its pretty much universally agreed vedic age is at least 12 000 years old or more. As time goes on more is being revealed with the help of science. (don't be so quick to make judgements) What you've stated is your opinion only. And the truth and reality is vedic literature, history and culture precedes everything we know today. Human civilization was built upon what the vedics left us. (infallible fact) All modern science, religion and myth was based of vedic "stories" and text.

if you feel that way then why bother about him using a bow or not?

even if it is imagination i want to portray what the author is trying to describe.
him not having a beard was an issue in the story and he is described as an amazing archer.
i want to stay as close to the original narrative as possible

when i spoke about the tv serials it is how i'll  advice a person who wants to know more about even charactres like spider-man,wolverine,batman etc..
to take reference from the comics instead of going by the movies.
